UPCOMING EVENTS:
April 22nd is Earth Day! Southwood Elementary, get ready! We will have some fun dress up days the week of April 22nd – 26th, beginning with Monday, Earth Day, wearing GREEN! The Southwood Family would like to help our students be aware of ways we can help our Earth stay beautiful and clean. In addition to these dress up days, there will be a contest amongst the classes to see which class can brainstorm the most ways to help our planet. The winning class will be rewarded with vegan ice cream sandwiches! Lastly, our students will have an opportunity to fill out a contract stating what he or she will do to take care of our Earth.
Monday: Wear GREEN to represent our land.
Tuesday: Wear BLUE to represent our oceans
Wednesday: Because we want to be kind to our planet, let’s wear shirts with kind words.
Thursday: Wear shirts with flowers or plants.
Friday: Wear shirts with animals who also need our Earth.

It is with great joy that I introduce myself as the principal of Southwood Elementary School. My name is Allison Garske and I have loved serving the Southwood community for the past year.
I have worked with students in OCPS for almost 20 years, and pride myself in building relationships with students and their families. I understand the unique needs of individual students and have a background in both exceptional student education and behavior that supports my work as the principal here at Southwood.
Student learning is a priority for me, and I know every student will have a promising and successful future if we all work together!
I look forward to continuing to collaborate with the families and students of Southwood in the 2023-2024 school year when we will be instilling that "If you can Dream it, you can do it!"
